Description

House Music has such diverse subgenres that I always struggle to categorize my own work, but I’ve decided to label this mix as Deep House. If you have any thoughts, please share them in the YouTube comments.

I’ve continued to focus on mashup mixing/long mixes in this one too. Some tracks run nearly two minutes with two songs playing in parallel. I find the process incredibly enjoyable: carefully listening to each track’s sound and structure, discovering which instruments and notes from the preceding or following track can form chords, for how long it works, how it sounds after the preceding song completely faded out (I often find myself concerned about the attack and loudness of bass and kick drums) and then translating that into EQ adjustments.

I’ve set chapters at the start of each mix in the YouTube video, so it’s fun to jump around and listen to specific sections (I do this myself often). One example : The transition from If You Were My Girl - Supershy to Da Ghent Life - Felipe Gordon is so seamless that even when I’m just listening casually, I sometimes don’t notice the next track has been mixed in.
