Mix 4 | Jazzy House | BPM 126 | 53.2 M
Description
This mix incorporates the challenge of weaving tracks I loved even before becoming a DJ into my house DJ style.
Examples include Dromedary Twist - Session Victim (Mndsgn’s remix of Camelblues), the original versions of Still Talking to You - Nujabes and SW9 9SL - Four Tet.
I also continued to obsess with mashups, which I’ve been particularly focused on since starting DJing.
One of my mashup approach involves mixing non-house tracks with house-style hi-hats and ride cymbals by adjusting the EQ, creating new house sounds during DJing. I centered this approach around the hip-hop track Still Talking to You.
Still Talking to You is rarely played solo; most of its time is spent mashed up with either Dromedary Twist or Melting - Makèz. The house elements from those tracks make Still Talking to You sound house-like.
Additionally, for SW9 9SL and Silky, Buttery, Smooth - Kareem Ali, the bass textures are similar and the keys harmonize well, so the bass mix is done instantaneously rather than gradually for the mashup.
P.S I am listening this mix now, I wish I had played each track longer.
